Scott Mills’ life-long dream becomes reality as new BBC Radio 1 schedule is announced handing him the official chart show – the show he pretended to host when he was eight-years-old

SCOTT Mills has been announced as the new host of the BBC Radio 1 Official Chart Show after changes to the stations schedule come into play.

The BBC’s plan is to “reinvent the way young people listen to the radio” with a new army of presenters and shows.

Scott’s new role isn’t the only change at the station, Dev and Alice Levine will host a new weekend breakfast show called “Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast”.

While TV personality, Maya Jama, will take on a new Friday morning show from 10am to 1pm called “Radio 1’s Greatest Hits”.

The corporation say that Maya will bring all the fun and energy of her Saturday show to Fridays.

Mills’ partner in crime, Chris Stark, heard of his co-presenter’s news, he tweeted: “How sweet is this, I’m hoping Mills Mum is on as well.”

Scott said: “I was sat with my Mum when I got this news, and she actually cried because I’ve been pretending to do the chart show on Radio 1 since I was 8 years old.

“I’ve filled in on the show so much over the years, and I can’t believe it’s actually mine, I’m beyond excited!”

The changes don’t stop there, Mollie King will partner up with Matt Edmondson on Friday afternoons from 1pm to 4pm for Mollie’s first permanent show on the station.

The Saturdays star said: “I’ve grown up listening to Radio 1 and I can’t wait to be one of the team.

“This is an absolute dream for me – the only person more excited than me is my mum – who is delighted I finally have a proper job!

“I’ve had so much fun working with Matt over the past few weeks, and I’m so glad I’m no longer just ‘Mollie From The Saturdays’ but Mollie from the ‘Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays’!”
