BBC Film, Lionsgate and BBC Studios have greenlit a big-screen adaptation of the hit BBC comedy, titled Ghosts: The Possession of Button House.
The feature-length family adventure will be produced by Monumental Television, which is part of ITV Studios.

Original stars and creators Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond have written the screenplay.

Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe are also set to star in the film.
The story marks a return to Button House after the BBC sitcom concluded its fifth and final series.
Who is directing the Ghosts movie?
Simon Hynd will direct the film after previously working on Ghosts, Motherland and Can You Keep a Secret?.
Producers include Alison Carpenter and Andy Brunskill, while Alison Owen and Debra Hayward also serve as award-winning producers on the project.
Executive producers include Jill Forbes for Monumental, Eva Yates for BBC Film, Marie-Claire Benson and Emma Berkofsky for Lionsgate, and Richard Acton for BBC Studios.

The creators said: "We thought we had said goodbye to Button House at the end of the final series. We never planned to come back.

The film will shoot at West Horsley Place in Surrey as well as surrounding locations.
How successful was Ghosts on BBC One?
The original series ran for five series on BBC One and its final episode attracted 7.2 million viewers.
It was the most-watched comedy series in the UK in 2023.
An American adaptation is currently in its fifth season, with a sixth already commissioned, while the format has also been licensed internationally in multiple territories.
