THERE is nothing worse than bumping your car in front of an audience. But imagine the embarrassment after one driver crashed a £215,000 Lamborghini into the wall after attempting 'launch control'.
Luckily, said driver escaped today's crash without injury. However, the incident which happened outside a 'Supercar Sunday' event in Acton this afternoon (March 24) could have ended a lot worse.
Dozens gathered outside the HR Owen Lamborghini service station to film the exotic cars leaving the annual event. One driver in a grey Lamborghini Performante lined up before activating launch control.
The mode revs the car's engine before releasing the brakes, sending the vehicle forward at a much greater speed than normal. This driver unfortunately lost control and careered straight into a tree before slamming into a nearby wall.
On-lookers captured the moment in videos and pictures. Some hard-core supercar fans just screamed and lay their head in shame after seeing what had just occurred right in front of their eyes.
Oliver King, who runs Instagram account London.Carspots, told The Entertainment Gazette: "He [the driver] was revving and decided to do a launch control, at which point he lost control because of his cold tyres.
"He hit the tree, went up the kerb and hit the wall – I'm pretty sure he was crying when he got out. It was easily a write off. Loads of people stopped to take pictures after it happened and the recovery van turned up an hour later."
Police were quickly at the scene, before quickly leaving again after finding out that the driver of the Lamborghini was absolutely fine, some say that all the unnamed man suffered was a severely bruised ego.
The future of the annual Supercar Sunday event is currently unclear, The Entertainment Gazette has contacted HR Owen for a comment.
