HUNDREDS of brave Londoners stripped down to their underwear on Sunday in attempt to "brighten up January" at annual No Trousers Tube Ride.
Now in its 10th year, the event originates from the 'No Pants Subway Ride' which began in New York in 2002 – it has since spread to over 60 cities worldwide.
An estimated 500 people took part on January 13. Attendees arrived at the National Gallery before everyone removed their trousers.
Tom Hayes, a previous event organiser, joined in the action this weekend. He said the day was "worth the chilly balls".
He told The Entertainment Gazette: "The event is intended to brighten up January – one of the most depressing months of the year.
"It's about bringing smiles and laughter to locals and tourists alike. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, body size, or taste in underwear."
People, who were not aware of the event, took to social media after spotting various commuters in just their pants on the tube.
One person tweeted: "There are people on the District Line in their underwear and I don't know why". After realising, they added: "That would explain it…" .
Another person who took part tweeted: "Had fun at the #NoTrousersTubeRide in London today – nice, friendly group of people, lots of people smiling along the route.
"So warm on the tube, I was tempted to strip, too. (but not brave enough – maybe next year!) #London."
