LONG-STANDING Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore has quit the ITV2 show – saying the "format" was "difficult".
She made the bombshell announcement on Instagram last night, saying she wished hosting the show was "still possible".
Laura's husband Iain Stirling narrates the hit-TV dating show and fans now fear he may follow in his wife's footsteps.
"I won't be hosting the next series of Love Island," she said last night. "There are certain elements of the show I've found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format."
Laura said that flying back and forth to South Africa was taking its toll and continuing to do so would create "conflicting projects".
She added: "I wish it was still possible but know you'll be in safe hands."
Paying tribute to the late Caroline Flack, she said: "I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."
A spokesperson for ITV said: "Sadly Laura Whitmore has chosen to leave Love Island. Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series' of the show.
"We're so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects."
