PEDRO Pascal has strongly hinted at The Last of Us season two filming beginning later "this year" as the popular series is set to return on HBO.
The Mandalorian actor, 47, teased behind the scenes knowledge in a new interview as he skated around the idea of more episodes of the video game adaptation.
He stars in the hit-US show as Joel Miller as he attempts to transport Ellie Williams, played by Bella Ramsey, across a post-apocalyptic America.

Ellie is somehow immune to a deadly virus which caused millions to transform into "infected" zombies – a storyline that is proving popular with PlayStation fans.
Nods to the award-winning video game are hidden all over the show which has just two episodes left in the nine-episode series – set to return for season two soon, apparently.
Speaking to reporters recently, Pedro said of a possible filming date for The Last of Us series two: "In the year 2023… oh, what season are we in now?"

"We're getting into spring," he asked journalists as he said "yes, there is a chance" to the idea that production is beginning sooner rather than later.
Ellie star Bella had also referenced the show's second season while appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast recently, talking all things The Last of Us.
Speaking of possible storylines for part two, Bella admitted: "I'm really excited to be honest, for the Ellie and Dina story."

The Last of Us season two is not yet confirmed by bosses at HBO but given the PlayStation game had a second instalment, more eventful episodes are to be expected.
The Last of Us continues Sundays on HBO and NOW.
