EMERGENCY service providers have warned Brits to allow extra time when travelling to avoid delays ahead of heavy snow and ice predictions in the eastern region.
Snow is set batter the east of the UK this week and the ambulance service have advised that people should take extra care when walking on icy pavements.
The Met Office has issued four yellow warnings for snow and ice in parts of the UK. They have also predicted that up to 10cm of snow will fall on higher ground.
They warned there was a "slight chance" that some rural communities could be cut off and a "small chance" that power cuts may occur and mobile phone coverage could be affected.
A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "There is the chance of travel delays so please allow extra time for journeys.
"Help us to focus on patients experiencing life-threatening emergencies by taking extra care on icy pavements to avoid slips and falls."
