A SINGLE father says he is boycotting his local Asda supermarket after he was falsely accused of stealing TWICE by staff. He says he will never step foot in the store ever again.
Neil Herridge says he is fed up with the way he is being treated in front of his son and friend at the Gravesend – he said both incidents have left him feeling embarrassed and upset.
The 51-year-old was accused of not paying for a five pence carrier bag by a member of staff while he was using the self-service tills at the supermarket during the summer last year.
Mr Herridge told the Kent Online: "It was the way she [the staff member] accused me, I wouldn't have minded if she asked nicely but she accused me of not paying for the bag."
After the incident, Mr Herridge complained and received a £30 store voucher and some flowers to say sorry. He was also told the member of staff in question would be re-trained to avoid further incidents.
However, Neil was stopped again last Friday (December 7) by security staff who were concerned that he was leaving the store with his shopping in the trolley and not packed into bags.
He said: "I was fuming with the way I was spoken to on the way out just because I had not put my shopping in a carrier bag. I was stopped and it was the way it was said to me – I was insulted.
"I had forgotten my bags and left them at home, so I had just put my shopping in the trolley and I had my receipt in my hand as I walked out. I was embarrassed in front of my son Billy who is 11 and my friend."
A spokesman for Asda has told The Entertainment Gazette that they are investigating this further incident.
